The McDonald’s Magic City Classic is about to get even more thrilling! The premier historically black college and university football match in the United States is slated to return on October 26. This year, renowned American actor Omari Hardwick will take on the role of the Magic City Classic ambassador.
Hardwick has gained fame for his role as James St. Patrick, also known as Ghost, in the popular television series Power. He has also showcased his acting prowess in other notable productions such as Army of the Dead, Kick-Ass, and For Colored Girls. In addition to acting, Hardwick runs a podcast named PoeticsPodcast.
The event’s organizers have highlighted Hardwick’s strong commitment to community service, underscoring his active involvement in various charitable endeavors. These include youth programs and providing support for budding artists.
Hardwick recently made an appearance at the historic Rickwood Field Negro League celebration in Birmingham, Alabama, showcasing his staunch advocacy for the preservation of Rickwood Field.
The McDonald’s Magic City Classic, backed by Coca-Cola, attracts fans and celebrities from all over the nation, as they watch Alabama State University and Alabama A&M University go head-to-head for a potential slot in the SWAC Championship.
On the game day, Hardwick will lead the McDonald’s Magic City Classic Parade on the McDonald’s float and will join in the halftime celebration, paying tribute to HBCU pride, community, and tradition.
I’m sure fans are hoping Hardwick will come to town days before the actual game and hopefully attend events centered around the MCC24!
